full description
HOW WE LIVED THEN. Memories of British life from the 1920's and 1930's. Bought food on Saturday night, sold off cheap, no refrigeration, stale bread. Cheap cuts of meat, sheeps brains, pigs trotters, rabbits, faggots, pease pudding, toast and dripping; poor family, only top of egg for children, milkman ladled out milk; muffin-man, street sellers; herrings, winkles, seafood stalls, jellied eels, pigs trotters very popular.
